If you need to modify or create a registry file in Windows XP, 7, 8 and 10 that time it is highly recommended to make a backup of registry files. Because sometimes minor changes in your registry file may corrupt your programs or operating system too. So before making any changes you can take latest backup of the Windows registry file which can be restored again when the user requires. Some user doesn’t have an idea about that and start facing issues after making changes in the registry file. I was also one of them, but after reading a lot of expert blogs I realized that everyone should have a backup of registry files. In this blog, I have explained how to make backup of registry files in Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista and Windows XP.

Steps to Create backup of Windows Registry Files!

Step-1) In the very first step, open the Windows Registry Editor Following:

For Windows 10, 8 and 8.1:

  • Press Windows + R keys to open the Run window.
  • On the Open field, type “regedit” and then hit Enter.

For Windows Vista and Windows 7:

  • Click the Start
  • Type “regedit” and then hit Enter. Click Yes when the User Account Control window appears.

For Windows XP:

  • Go to Start > Run.
  • In the Open field, type “regedit” and then hit Enter.

Step-2) The Windows Registry Editor will appear. Click File > Export

Step-3) Select the destination location where you want to save backup file.

Step-4) Provide a file name for the registry backup and make sure that the All radio button is selected Under Export Range

Step-5)  Finally Click the Save button. Now check the newly created file in a selected destination location.
