Earlier, I installed Windows 10 build 9926 on my PC and experience a problem where a new Build shows available. But when I attempt to download and install the update, it occurs an error message “0x80246017” as shown in below screen.

I was searching a solution to solve the problem and then found that registry modification was needed to fix 0x80246017 Error in Windows 10 Build 9926. I was wasted several hours in finding this solution, then I have decided to make it more easy which may save your precious time.

Why 0x80246017 Error Occurs?

Windows 10 Build 9926 presented this bug and it requires a registry modification to fix the error. Windows Update should have set the registry keys back to the proper value according to According to Microsoft, but it failed to do so. We know that Microsoft will fix this issue in the next build.

  • Search “REGEDIT” and hit enter to open registry editor
  • Now navigate the following path
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsSelfHost\Applicabi]
  • Locate BranchName and make sure its value should: FBL_AWESOME1501. If it doesn’t , then change it.
  • Go to ThresholdRiskLevel and change it to: low
  • Find ThresholdInternal and ThresholdOptedIn. Delete both files.regbefore

Conclusion:

Once you make these changes and check Windows Update again, your installation of Windows 10 9926 will display no new builds available.
